In Q2 2023, sales of new motor vehicles in Brazil reached 526,782 units, increasing by 11.7% q/q and by 2.8% y/y. Passenger cars was the leading category with a market share of 73.6% in total sales during Q2 2023, followed by light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles with shares of 20.9% and 5.5%, respectively. Although the local economy is decelerating, the domestic demand for motor vehicles continued to expand in the period. Domestic passenger cars sales in Q2 2023 grew by 12.1% q/q and by 1.24% y/y, reaching a volume of 387,722 units. Light commercial vehicle sales witnessed an even better performance, with volume of sales reaching 110,026 units, growing by 21% q/q and 16.2% y/y. Conversely, heavy vehicle sales recorded a decline by 16.7% q/q and by 16.4% y/y to 29,034 units in Q2 2023.
