In Q3 2023, sales of new motor vehicles in Brazil stood at 631,076 units, increasing by 19.8% q/q and by 7.95% y/y. Passenger cars was the largest segment with a market share of 75.42% in Q3 2023, followed by light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles with shares of 19.68% and 4.9%, respectively. Heavy vehicle sales increased from Q2 2023 but declined compared to Q3 2022 due to a shorter September (three working days less than the month before) and the end of the government's tax incentive programme in July 2023. Conversely, the sales of light vehicles increased driven by rising demand for electric vehicles, supported by government programmes and brand discounts.
