In Q1 2024, sales of new motor vehicles in Brazil stood at 514,571 units, increasing by 9.1% y/y but falling by 24.2% against the previous quarter. Passenger cars were the largest segment with a market share of 73.2% in Q1 2024, followed by light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles with shares of 20.8% and 5.9%, respectively. Heavy vehicle sales fell by 12.2% y/y in Q1 2024 (and by 9.2% q/q) due to the higher retail prices of heavy vehicles compatible with Euro VI Emission Standards.
