In Q3 2023, total insurance premium income in Brazil saw an increase of 11.5% y/y to BRL 175.7bn. This rise was mainly explained by the recovery of the economy, as GDP rose by 2% y/y in the quarter. Life insurance premium income went up by 9.7% y/y to BRL 71.3bn during Q3 2023, while non-life insurance premium income amounted to BRL 104.3bn in Q3 2023, a 12.7% y/y increase. The main factor behind this rise was the performance of supplementary health insurance, where premium income increased by 16.1% y/y to BRL 71.2bn. The loan (up 22% y/y) and property (+18.5% y/y) insurance categories showed above average performance within the property and casualty category, showing a shift in demand towards financial and property insurance as the economy continued to grow.
