The industry also reported a new record high external trade surplus of USD 7.2bn, up by 9.3% y/y. Despite the positive performance of exports, high inflation in Poland in 2022 and 2023 affected the profitability of the Polish agribusiness industry, with its GVA down by 0.9% y/y in 2023. Inflation led to higher production costs and lower agribusiness production, while rising food prices led to weakened domestic demand.
