Poland's software and IT sector has evolved into one of the most dynamic components of the national economy, balancing rapid growth in digital services with a stable though less dynamic manufacturing base. As of end-2024, the country employed approximately 327,000 people in information and communication activities and a further 59,000 in hardware-related manufacturing, underscoring its dual role as both a services hub and a production platform. The sector's gross value added has expanded steadily over the past decade, with industrial production value of computer, electronic and optical products rising from PLN 37,338mn in 2016 to PLN 63,831mn in 2024, equivalent to a compound annual growth rate of around 7%. The post-pandemic years saw especially strong growth, with output surging by 55% between 2019 and 2022 before moderating in 2023 and recovering again in 2024. The industry benefits from an annual inflow of 15,000 computer science graduates and its position as a leading IT market in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the most competitive nearshoring destinations globally.
